The World Series of Poker (WSOP) recently announced that the 12th edition of WSOP Circuit scheduled to be held from Aug. 4 to Aug 16 at the Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort in North Carolina will now close with the newly-named event WSOP Global Casino Championship. The 2015 event was known as the WSOP National Championship.

The Global Championship will run from August 9 – Aug 11 and will now be an official gold bracelet event offering a guaranteed prize pool of at least $1 million. The freeroll event features players winning a title in any of the WSOPC main events or Casino Champion titles held throughout the season. In a new initiative, the event will also allow players from international WSOP circuits to participate. Winning players from countries like Canada, Morocco, Italy, Georgia and the Czech Republic are likely to take part in the event.

The event will award 100 free seats in all. In addition to winners from national and international circuits, 50 players who have been ranked at the top of the WSOP Circuit’s U.S. leader board will join the event.

Paid entry is possible for 100 players who are at the top of the WSOP World Rankings by virtue of their performance over the past two years in WSOP gold bracelet events. The buy-in amount for them will be $10,000. The event also permits for the first time, players who have won in an official ring event on the WSOP circuit this year to directly participate with a buy-in of $10,000.

The buy-ins will be added to the prize pool rake free in addition to the $1 million put up by the WSOP. Players winning a free entry will be provided a travel stipend worth $500 and allowed stay of three nights at the Harrah’s Cherokee hotel. Anyone reaching the final table will be given an extra night at the hotel.
