I played at one of the 1/2 NLH cash tables. I bought in 100$ shy of max buy in. (300) The table was full many of the players and dealers knew each other by name. A few of the local players already seated had well over the max buy in, however they didn't use this advantage too aggressively and allowed me to play for hours without too much pressure. I did notice however that the locals would call their friends on risky bets while folding to out of towners unless they had clearly the best hand. They were good guys and fun to bull @#$% with I will be going back again. The waitresses were timely and respectful the dealers were professional and entertaining. The room is sealed from the rest of the casino and no smoking is allowed. All in all It was a very relaxed atmosphere and lots of fun.

The Downstream Casino Resort is located at the Oklahoma-Missouri-Kansas border. The casino opened July 5, 2008 and the hotel opened November 22, 2008. The total construction cost was $310 million.
The Downstream Casino is one of two casinos owned and operated by the Quapaw Tribe of Oklahoma. The other casino is the Quapaw Casino in Miami, OK.
In December 2014 the federal government approved expansion of the casino into Southeast Kansas. The project will be a 40,000 square-foot expansion crossing the Kansas-Oklahoma border and costing $15 million. The new space will host 162 electronic gaming machines, a cigar lounge and a night club.

Downstream Casino and Resort celebrates 10th anniversary

Ten years ago the Downstream Casino and Resort celebrated its grand opening. The casino resort is owned by the Quapaw Tribe of Oklahoma.
On July 05, 2008 was the opening date for the casino and resort. The construction took just under 11 months. This was one month ahead of schedule. The project was also under budget.
The first development phase consisted of a casino building of 277,000 square feet. Table games, a poker room, and slot machines were in operation. The hotel offered 222 guest rooms on 12 floors. There was also a spa and space for meetings and events.
Later a golf course with 36 holes and the Loma Linda Country Club was added. So was an outdoor venue for concerts offering room for 7,500 guests. This opened in September 2008. A convention center and additional tower to the hotel was also built.
By November 2008 1,100 casino employees were hired. As well as 200 hotel employees.
The first five years of operation had an estimated $1 billion economic impact on the region. Over the last ten years 1,640 permanent jobs have been created by the Downstream Casino Resort. $58 million has been paid annually in worker wages.
The casino resort has allowed for $100 million to fund the tribe's general fund. They have been able to payback their debts. They have also been able to repurchase bonds.
Due to the success of the gaming venture the Quapaw Tribe has been able to expand into other industries. This includes growing their agricultural and cattle businesses.
